When the No Game No Life anime series originally aired in April 2014, anime fans everywhere immediately fell in love with Blank, the dynamic duo consisting of Sora, the manipulative, cunning and calculating mastermind and Shiro, the calm and cute super-genius. Both being brilliant NEETs (Not in Education, Employment, or Training) who are nearly unbeatable in the gaming world, they were suddenly transported into an alternate world after defeating Tet, the God of the world they were call into, in chess.
The No Game No Life anime is based on the light novel series by author Yū Kamiya and was started in April 2012, two years before the premier of the anime adaptation. Although the anime series was only 12 episodes long, it created such a compelling story that sucked everyone into the world of No Game No Life and left us all on the edge of our seats when it abruptly ended. Now we are getting what we’ve been waiting for for so long!
While it’s not a full anime series like we were hoping for, it’s certainly better than nothing so I’m not going to complain. The No Game No Life Zero anime movie was announced at AnimeJapan 2017 when the film’s first promotional video, staff, cast, and characters were revealed. Well, that’s enough of that. Here’s the information you’ve been waiting for: No Game No Life Zero will be released July 15, 2017!
If you haven’t watched the original No Game No Life anime series yet, you better get on it quick! For someone who loves watching psychological thrillers, this anime was absolutely perfect. The plot was unique and engaging, the characters were fun and badass, the design of the world was detailed and beautiful, and the execution of the psychological warfare scenes was impeccable.
